Java has been the go-to language in the last two decades for modern programming but it has its own share of missteps and glorious features. This session shed light on such topics that matter in Java.
The session was divided in 2 chapters – Language and APIs. We discussed Enums, Classes vs Functions, Statements vs Expressions, Parameters, Lambda expressions, Pattern matching and Lists. The features that lack in Java are great utilities such as methods in arrays, tuples, runtime type information, etc. Refactoring and performance boosts by using Java were also explained as things that make it great!
Christian Hujer, our Software Craftsmanship Consultant at Red Panda and CEO of Nelkinda, was the presenter.
